DEVELOPMENT ASSESSMENT
PANEL — ESPERANCE
698. Mr P.J. RUNDLE to the Minister for Planning:
I think the celebrations have
started a bit early!
I
refer to the regional development assessment panel decision on the Esperance
power project, which saw a significant proposal determined without any
participation from the Shire of Esperance due to a lack of appropriately
trained council DAP members.
(1) Despite requests from the shire for training to
occur, why was no training provided to council representatives and as a consequence
this important project was determined without any local representation?
(2) Is the
minister aware of other instances when this training requirement has not been
met, excluding local representation from decision-making processes?

I thank the member for the
question. The joint development assessment panel process is an independent
process that was set up by the previous government. In relation to the specifics
of the question, I will have to take that on notice and get back to the member.
