❓ Mr. Papalia questions the Minister for Education regarding delays in relocating staff to Padbury Senior High School for State-wide Education Services and requests a cost breakdown. The Minister cites compliance with the new Building Act 2011 as the reason for the delay and provides limited information on staff relocation and costs.

With reference to the establishment of State-wide Education Services at Padbury Senior High School, I ask:
(a) did the transfer of 300 staff to that site occur by the commencement of the 2012 school year as promised by the Minister; and
(i) if not, how many staff have been relocated there to date;
(b) what is the estimated total cost of establishing the service at that site, including refit and relocation costs and any temporary accommodation; and
(c) will the Minister provide a breakdown of these costs?

I am advised by the Department of Education as follows:
(a) The Department is required to comply with the provisions of the new
Building Act 2011
in order to convert the former school facilities for use as office accommodation. This Act comes into effect on 2 April 2012. These requirements have delayed the refurbishment project and the transfer of the 300 staff. This project will also require local government approval.
(a)(i) Five staff providing Statewide Education support services have been relocated to the Padbury site.
(b)-(c) These estimates are still being completed based on the requirements of the
Building Act 2011
.
