MERMEC Roger 800 Measuring vehicle
1126. Hon Steve Martin to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister
for Transport:
I refer to the MERMEC
Roger 800 rail recording vehicle that the minister said would "revolutionise"
the way the Public Transport Authority maintained the network, which caught
fire three years ago and, as recently as 25 October, was reported in The West Australian as not operational.
(1) Has the government resolved the three-year-long
stand-off with the manufacturer and had the vehicle repaired?
(2) What figure has the PTA estimated it would
cost to repair the vehicle?
(3) When will the vehicle be operational?
(4) Noting that the vehicle has not been
operational for some time, how has the PTA performed the functions that the
vehicle was supposed to perform in the meantime?
