Registration as a timber worker allows the registrant to participate in either timber harvesting or timber haulage or both. Registration is not required for workers in sawmills, processing plants, manufacturing, administration, private plantation forestry or other parts of the forest industry. Employment figures related to the Western Australian forest industry published recently by the Cooperative Research Centre for Forestry were comprehensive, and inclusive of all parts of the industry.
