I thank the honourable member for
some notice of this question. The following information has been provided to me
by the Minister for Police.
The Western Australia Police Force
advises the following.
(1) It is to
support Western Australia Police Force operations, including assisting the
districts and regional investigations unit with the apprehension of high-harm
offenders and other priority offenders; provision of support capability for
critical incident or emergency management incidents; provision of a public
order response capability; provision of patrol rifle AR-15 capability for
critical incidents, inclusive of an active armed offender, in the metropolitan
area; and tasking support to districts.
(2) There were 120 officers on both
those dates.
