ROYALTY
REVIEW — GOLD SECTOR
589. Mr W.J. JOHNSTON to the
Minister for Mines and Petroleum:
I have a supplementary question. Given that the minister now
says that the gold royalty increase will lead to job losses, project closures
and delays, will he still proceed with increasing the gold royalty?

AnswerView source ↗

I did not say that; the answer to part (3) was yes. That is
what the miners told me would be the effect. I listened to that and, indeed, at
the end of the year when we get recommendations from the review, the government
will act on those recommendations.
