On behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure, I thank the member for some notice of the question. (1) The Taxi Industry Board is established under part 2, section 8, of the Taxi Act 1994. (2) Section 14 of the Taxi Act states that the functions of the board are to keep the minister informed of the state of the taxi industry; to develop policies and plans for the improvement of the taxi industry; and, when requested by the minister, to advise the minister on applications for grants from moneys standing to the credit of the taxi industry development account. (3) The board comprises seven members. Members of the board are persons with knowledge of or experience in the taxi industry or as consumers of taxi services. The members of the board are: Maree Alver, member, Taxi Customers Advisory Forum; Robert Caporn, local government officer, City of Fremantle; Kevin Foley, managing director, Swan Taxis; Colin Clune, driver, despatch operator, trainer and supervisor; Kevin Wigg, general manager, Black and White Taxis; Philip Redhead, multipurpose taxi owner-driver; Greg Wheatley, taxi owner, multipurpose taxi and peak-period restricted taxi, and driver. (4) (a) The funds necessary for the performance of the functions of the board shall be charged to the taxi industry development account, as per section 13 of the Taxi Act. (b) Section 12 of the Taxi Act provides for the remuneration of the board members. The remuneration is as follows: the chairperson receives $350 for a full day and $230 for a half-day, and members receive $240 for a full day and $160 for a half-day.
