GRIFFIN
COAL — LIQUIDATOR
665. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the
Minister for State and Industry Development, Jobs and Trade:
I refer to the Labor government's
extraordinary grant of $19.5 million to the receivers and managers of the
insolvent Griffin Coal and to my question without notice 584 of 13 June 2023
that revealed the $19.5 million grant had blown out by a staggering 20 per
cent.
(1) Has an
additional financial assistance agreement been executed between the state and
Griffin Coal for the additional funding stream revealed in my question without
notice of 13 June 2023?
(2) If yes to
(1), what is the fiscal value of the agreement, what are the terms of the
agreement and when was it signed?
(3) If no to (1), why not?
(4) Will the
minister table all FAAs executed between the state and Griffin Coal in the last
eight months; and, if not, why not?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the Leader of the
Opposition for some notice of the question.
(1)–(4) An
amended financial assistance agreement has been executed. As the Premier has
stated previously, although the government is committed to transparency and
will provide updates when possible to ensure the public remains informed, this
matter is commercially sensitive and there are limitations on what the government can share. The details of the FAA
between the state and Griffin Coal's receivers and managers are
confidential and commercially sensitive.
