I refer to the Guardianship and Administration Act 1990 , and I ask: (a) how many applications were received by the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) in 2023-24; (b) how many people are currently under guardianship in Western Australia; (c) of the total from (b), how many are: (i) women; and (ii) men; and (d) as noted on page 18 of the SAT 2023 Annual Report, as a need to handle demand, did the Department of Justice appoint additional Aboriginal Advisory Officers to assist the tribunal during the 2023-24 financial year?

(a)       Between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2024, the State Administrative Tribunal (Tribunal) received 6,061 Guardianship and Administration applications.
(b)       In Western Australia, 11,824 people have a substituted decision order either for guardianship (lifestyle) or administration (financial) or both. Data is not maintained separately for guardianship and administration applications.
(c)        (i)-(ii) Of the 11,824 people, 5,294 (44.8%) are recorded on the Tribunal’s case management system as women, 6,143 (52%) as men, and 387 (3.2%) as indeterminate, intersex, unspecified or unknown.
(d)       Refer to Legislative Council Question Without Notice 1026.
