MUJA CD — MAINTENANCE
887. Mr W.J. JOHNSTON to the Minister for
Energy:
I have a supplementary question. Is
the minister aware that the former chief executive of Verve Energy Shirley InXXX ### XXXt Veld wrote to the
government warning that the reduction in maintenance spending may well lead to
unplanned outages; and, given that letter was sent to the government years ago
and has been discussed in estimates committee hearings, why is the minister not
aware of that fact?

AnswerView source ↗

As I indicated, the agency annual reports
indicate that there has been extensive maintenance done to Muja CD over the
last few years, as scheduled. There has not been any cut to maintenance. It has
been kept up to date. Whether or not the former CEO—two past—made
a comment, all I can say is that that has not come to pass. There has been
extensive maintenance in the facility when required and the cause of this
collapse is unknown.
