BULONG NICKEL PROJECT — FORFEITED LEASE
363. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the Attorney General
representing the Minister for Mines and Petroleum:
I refer to the Bulong nickel
project, mining lease 25/97, which was forfeited on 5 March 2013.
(1) What was the annual rent payable
for ML 25/97 for the year up to forfeiture?
(2) Was the rent
paid for the 21 years that ML 25/97 was active?
That does not make a lot of sense to
me. I am sorry; I do not know whether we have managed to clarify that one.
(3) If no to (2), what was the total
rent outstanding at forfeiture?
The PRESIDENT : I think there was a question there.

Right; let me see whether I can make
sense of the answers. I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question. The following information has been provided to me by the Minister for
Mines and Petroleum, and I think a little interpretation was possibly needed.
(1) The amount was $10 635. The
lease was not forfeited but expired on 5 March 2013.
(2) No, the rent was not paid for
the years ending 2007 to 2013.
(3) The total rent outstanding when
the lease expired was $73 260.97.
