SWITCH THE FUTURE
— SAVING POWER PROGRAM
757. Hon ALISON XAMON to the Minister for Energy:
I refer to my question on notice 5838 regarding the Saving
Power element of the hardship efficiency program and the answer regarding the
difficulty in establishing consistent, high-quality energy data pre and
post-intervention. Will the minister consider establishing an energy saving
program or trial for which this data can be gathered?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
These initiatives will be considered as part of the
activities conducted by the Future Energy Alliance, which includes Synergy,
Western Power and Horizon Power. The FEA's energy saving campaign,
Switch the Future, already focuses on helping families save on their
electricity bill. As part of a trial, 30 households from across Western
Australia took the Switch the Future challenge to see how much they could save
in four weeks. The challenge is now open to all households. The Switch the
Future website provides energy efficiency tips and allows customers to create a
customised Switch the Future plan and to track progress against that plan.
