I refer to Tabled paper 3898 ‘Prison Population and Reported Crime in Western Australia: 5 Year Snapshot’ tabled by the Attorney General on 21 September 2011 in the other place, and I ask -
(1) Will the Minister please table offender recidivism figures for the same period?
(2) If no to (1), why not?

(1) Rate of Return to prison:
· 2006-07 - 43.29 per cent
· 2007-08 - 42.27 per cent
· 2008-09 - 44.66 per cent
· 2009-10 - 45.29 per cent
· 2010-11 - 44.16 per cent
The rate of return to prison is the percentage of the prisoners discharged from custody following a sentenced episode, who return within two years of their release/discharge for a subsequent sentenced episode.
The rate of return excludes exits from and returns to fine default only sentences, and excludes returns solely on account of suspension of an early release order. However, it includes returns to prison for breach of parole order conditions where the order has been cancelled.
(2) Not applicable.
