I refer to proposed clearing and road works on the 15 km
stretch of Great Northern Highway east from juncture with the Derby Highway and
question on notice 1874 of 14 February 2019 and the significantly large and culturally
important Boab located at 17°38'05.5"S 123°44'36.5"E,
and ask: (a) will this Boab be retained in situ; (b) if no to (a), why not; (c) if no to (a), what process will be put in place to ensure that it is relocated and not buried as occurred in the previous road works; (d) if it is to be relocated, what specialist horticultural services will be used to ensure that it is relocated successfully; and (e) if it is to be relocated, given its age and enormous weight, what specialist lifting sources will be mobilised to the Kimberley to enable its lifting with root ball intact?
