Regarding the volume of Questions on Notice that have been asked of the Government I ask:
(a) what was the total number of Questions on Notice received by the Government in:
(i) 2007;
(ii) 2008 (both prior to and after the State election);
(iii) 2009;
(iv) 2010; and
(v) to date in 2011;
(b) what is the break-up of these questions per Ministerial portfolio;
(c) what proportion of these questions have been asked by:
(i) government members; and
(ii) non-government members; and
(d) what is the average total cost per question to provide answers to these Questions on Notice, both in terms of hours and actual monetary value?

(a i) In the calendar year of 2007 the Government received 1,210 Legislative Assembly Question on Notice and 1,284 Legislative Council Question on Notice.
(a ii) In the calendar year of 2008 from 1 January - 30 June the Government received 498 Legislative Assembly Question on Notice and 733 Legislative Council Question on Notice.
38th Parliament officially opened on 6 November 2008 and last sitting day for 2008 was Thursday 11 December 2008. During this period the Government received 421 Legislative Assembly Question on Notice and 229 Legislative Council Question on Notice.
(a iii) In the calendar year of 2009 the Government received 1,676 Legislative Assembly and 1,206 Legislative Council Question on Notice.
(a iv) In the calendar year of 2010 the Government received 2,509 Legislative Assembly and 1,820 Legislative Council Question on Notice.
(a v) In the calendar year of 2011 the Government received from 1 January - 22 November 2011, 2,203 Legislative Assembly and 1,776 Legislative Council Question on Notice.
