(1) Does the Minister for Health support those comments? (2) If not, will the minister apologise to the doctors and the community in Carnarvon for the member’s outrageous, demoralising and offensive comments? Mr DAY

(1)-(2) I do not agree with those comments, and I recognise the substantial contribution which not only doctors but also many other health professionals are making in rural and remote parts of Western Australia. I discussed the issue with some of the doctors in Carnarvon when I was at the regional cabinet meeting in Carnarvon a couple of weeks ago, and I know the member for Ningaloo has also discussed the issue with local doctors.
