(1) For the north metropolitan housing region: (a) how many people applied for priority housing in 2012; (b) at 31 December 2012, how many people were there on the priority housing waiting list; (c) how many people were refused priority housing listing by the initial housing officer in 2012; (d) how many people were approved but subsequently refused priority housing listing by the review officer in 2012; (e) at 31 December 2012, how many people had been on the priority housing listing for 18 months or more; (f) how many people were contacted to update their details after being on the waiting list for more than 18 months; (g) of those in (f) how many failed to respond within seven days; (h) of those in (f) who did respond, how many were found to be ineligible; (i) does the Department record whether the applicant(s) are from a non-English speaking background, and if so, how many of those in (b) were thus recorded; and (j) does the Department record whether the applicant(s) have a visual disability, and if so, how many of those in (b) were thus recorded? (2) For the north metropolitan housing region: (a) how many Department of Housing houses are currently untenanted waiting for maintenance; (b) how many new Department of Housing houses are planned for construction or purchase; and (c) how many Department of Housing houses have been transferred to the community sector?

The Department of Housing advises:
(1)
(a) The Department does not maintain statistics on how many people applied for priority housing. However, 455 applications were approved for priority assistance.
(b) 1,111 applications.
(c-d) The Department does not maintain statistics on requests that are declined.
(e) 758 applications.
(f) All applicants are contacted annually.
(g) As at 30 April 2013, 846 applications were withdrawn as the applicants did not return their Annual Housing Application Review form and were unable to be contacted by the Department.
(h) As at 30 April 2013, 160 applications were withdrawn due to ineligibility for public housing. This also includes applications withdrawn outside of the annual application review process.
(i) No, although it does record if an interpreter is required. As at 30 April 2013, there were 26 priority applications where it was indicated that an interpreter was required.
(j) Yes. The Department records information specific to a person's visual disability on their personal file. It does not maintain statistics on how many people have reported a visual disability.
