In its Mt Herschel Development document the Rottnest Island Authority (RIA) advises that this new development is not expected to increase overall numbers on the Island by any significant amount, and intimates no negative impacts are expected.
Can the Minister please advise -
(1) Why has the RIA not undertaken research to determine the impact of 90,000-plus extra visitors annually on this fragile and degraded environment?
(2) What measures does the RIA have in mind to minimise damage of 90,000-plus visitors annually to the natural environment?
(3) How will such measures be funded?
(4) What ongoing resources will the Government make to the RIA to fund any such measures to conserve/protect the natural environment of this 'A' Class Reserve?
