The Minister for Resources has been provided with the following response:
(1) The review covers the Banded Iron Formation Ranges (BIFs) in the Yilgarn Craton area of WA. The Craton covers 650,000 Sq km although the BIFs are predominately in the Midwest and Goldfields sections (350,000 Sq km).
(2) It is the Government's intention to create a number of conservation/nature reserves. The exact boundaries of the reserves are yet to be determined.
(3) Until the boundaries are determined it is not possible to estimate the amount of currently known ore that could be in the reserves.
