(1) In the 2024-25 financial year, how many public housing tenants received a communication telling them that they would have to vacate their home because they were earning too much money? (2) If possible, in reference to (1), can we have similar figure for the community housing sector? (3) For both sectors in (1) and (2), out of those who received this communication, how many were successfully transitioned into the private rental market?

Data on income and asset eligibility assessments is not collated for reporting purposes. Collating this data would require a manual review of individual files which is not considered to be a reasonable use of government resources.
Where tenants have had a change in circumstances and are earning over the income limits the Department of Housing and Works will work with the tenant to transition them to alternative housing options.
An annual tenant review is conducted by the relevant regional office where income evidence is requested and checked against eligibility.
Community Housing Organisations undertake a similar process.
