WA POLICE UNION —
MEETING REQUEST
706. Mr P.A. KATSAMBANIS to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. Can
the Premier confirm that his answer on Tuesday and his answer today justifies
the recent police union survey findings that police officers have no faith in
the Premier or his government; and why is the Premier treating police officers
and their representatives with contempt?

That is an unnecessarily nasty and
silly question, with a false premise. It might surprise the member for Hillarys
to know that last week the Minister for Police and I attended a barbecue with a
range of police officers. Those present included officers who attended the
shocking events in Bedford, and who attempted to rescue the boys who were in
the river. We spent a period of time with those police officers, meeting and
talking to them and listening to their experiences. We treat our police
officers with the utmost respect. I think they deserve our respect. The
Minister for Police meets with the police union regularly. If the police union
would like to meet me, I am more than happy to have a meeting, as I said on
Tuesday, with George and Brandon and Harry. I am happy to catch up with them at
a meeting in my office if they would like.
