public sector agencies are currently without a permanent chief executive
officer and on what date did the position become vacant?
(2) What has been the cost of the recruitment process for
chief executive officers in 2013–14?
(3) With reference to the position of director general of
Health —
(a) how much was originally
allocated for recruitment;
(b) how much has been spent to
date on recruitment;
(c) how is the
government seeking to recruit for this position and what is the estimated cost;
(d) how many applications for this
position have been received; and
(e) what is the dollar value
currently being offered for applicants to this position?

(3) With reference to the position of director general of
Health —
(a) A contract award
of $82 500 plus advertising costs and contingencies as required.
(b) The cost to date is $122 862, including
advertising costs and contingencies. This comprises —
Advertising—$35
909;
Consultant—$72
600 from the contract award of $82 500; and
Contingencies—$14

(c) Professor
Bryant Stokes, AM, is currently acting in the role of director general of the
Department of Health until 17 October 2014. Given his experience and competence
in the role, the active recruitment of an appointee has been placed on hold. An
estimated final cost of recruitment to the role will be determined following
the resumption of the process.
(d) In total,
17 applications were received for the vacancy following advertising and an
executive search. Two candidates subsequently withdrew their applications,
leaving a field of 15 applicants.
(e) The
current salary for the position is $522 511 per annum as determined by the
Public Sector Commissioner in accordance with regulation 8A of the Public
Sector Management (General) Regulations 1994.
