SKILLS WEST EXPO — ADVICE TO MINISTER
I refer to the article in The West Australian of 10 February 2010 on the proposed Skills West Expo. (1) Has the minister received advice from the new Department of Training and Workforce Development or the former Department of Education and Training on the Skills West Expo? (2) If yes to (1), what was the nature of that advice and will the minister table a copy of that advice in this house? (3) If no to (2), why not? Hon PETER COLLIER

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. (1) Yes. (2) The Department of Training and Workforce Development has provided me with information relating to the objectives of the Skills West Expo and the opportunities for involvement by the department. I table this advice; however, areas that are commercial in confidence have been removed. Hon Ljiljanna Ravlich : Ha, ha! I am sure of that. Hon PETER COLLIER : The answer continues — (3) Not applicable. I just say that I can assure the honourable member that nothing has been removed that will make any difference to the context in terms of this edit. Hon Ljiljanna Ravlich : So why did you remove it? Hon PETER COLLIER : Because it is commercial in confidence. Listen! Hon Ljiljanna Ravlich : Why did you remove it? You can’t have it both ways. Hon PETER COLLIER : I said that it is commercial in confidence. Hon Ljiljanna Ravlich : You are sneaky and slippery and you know it. The PRESIDENT : Order! Has the minister finished? Hon PETER COLLIER : No, I am just responding to Hon Ljiljanna Ravlich. Hon Ljiljanna Ravlich interjected. Hon PETER COLLIER : I am not sneaky, I am not underhand, I am not clandestine, and I wish Hon Ljiljanna Ravlich would stop judging me by her standards. Hon Ljiljanna Ravlich : Why did you scrub it out? Hon PETER COLLIER : What we are dealing with here is a situation, as she will see, of a couple of names that have been taken out of these documents. In essence they remain untouched. I would appreciate an apology once she has looked at the documents. [See paper 1962.]
