I refer to Hanson's Quarry at Red Hill, and the Minister's decision to over-rule the Environmental Protection Authority and the Appeals Convenor to try to progress the project, and I ask -
(1) Is the Minister assisting Hanson's Quarry in negotiations with the traditional owners of the land?
(2) If yes to (1), with whom is the Minister negotiating?
(3) If no to (1), will the Minister assist Hanson's Quarry in negotiations with the traditional owners of the land?

(1)-(3) Aboriginal heritage sites were identified by the Environmental Protection Authority as a key environmental factor in its assessment of the Red Hill Quarry Development. In this regard, the Environmental Protection Authority considered submissions from Traditional Owners and the Department of Indigenous Affairs in its assessment.
The Minister for Environment is currently considering the EPA's recommendations under section 45(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1986. This process has included consultation with the Minister for Indigenous Affairs, as a relevant decision making authority under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972.
The Minister for Environment has not assisted, and does not propose to assist, the proponent in negotiations with Traditional Owners.
