I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question
(1) There has
been a decline in demand for training and associated administrative services in
Newman and Tom Price over the last two years. As a more efficient and flexible
mode of delivery, services in the Pilbara will be managed from Karratha and
Port Hedland. Training will continue to be offered across the Pilbara at local
campuses, schools, enterprises and workplaces where there is viable demand for
training. Accordingly, six positions will be abolished in Newman and Tom Price.
Three of those staff have elected to take voluntary severances, with the
remaining three being redeployed to Karratha and Port Hedland.
(2) No.
(3) Lecturers will deliver specialist training in Newman and
Tom Price as required.
(4) No.
(5) As at 1 July 2014 there were 189 staff, and as at 1 May
2015 there were 143 staff.
