I refer to the School Volunteer Program Inc., and ask:
(a) is the Minister aware that this program must apply for Royalties for Regions funding separately for each of the nine regions in Western Australia;
(b) is there a more streamlined way this program can apply for Royalties for Regions funding; and
(i) if so, please provide details; and
(ii) if not, why not; and
(c) will any funding allocation be made to the School Volunteer Program from Royalties for Regions in the 2010–2011 budget or any out years; and
(i) if so, how much?

(a) This is not correct. The Strategic Regional Projects Fund provides a mechanism for cross regional projects to obtain funding support. The Director General and staff from the Department of Regional Development and Lands met with Ms Catherine Gray, CEO of the School Volunteer Program on 22 April 2010 to discuss the Program and its applicability to the Regional Grants Scheme Strategic Reserve.
(b) Yes. Through the Regional Grants Scheme Strategic Reserve.
(i) Applications for funding are assessed by the Department for Regional Development and Lands and considered by the Regional Development Council representing all nine regions. Projects recommended for funding are referred to me for approval then referred to Cabinet for endorsement.
(ii) Not applicable.
(c) No specific funding allocation has been made for this program in the 2010-2011 budget. The Department of Regional Development and Lands will continue to work with the project proponent. If a funding application is submitted, it will be properly assessed and considered as outlined.
(i) Not applicable.
