I refer to the Minister's comments in the House on 17 April 2013 stating that there is an excess of 700 megawatts, and I ask, how much excess capacity was there on the South West Integrated System on:
(a) 1 July 2008;
(b) 1 July 2009;
(c) 1 July 2010;
(d) 1 July 2011; and
(e) 1 July 2012?

The Independent Market Operator certifies generation capacity two years in
advance of requirements. Each capacity year starts on 1 October.
Excess capacity figures recorded for capacity years covering the dates
requested are detailed below:
(a)  1 July 2008 - 115 megawatts (2007 Capacity Year)
(b)  1 July 2009 - 278 megawatts (2008 Capacity Year)
(c)  1 July 2010 - 527 megawatts  (2009 Capacity Year)
(d)  1 July 2011 - 113 megawatts (2010 Capacity Year)
(e)  1 July 2012 - 302 megawatts (2011 Capacity Year)
The levels of excess capacity for the remaining capacity years are as
follows:
· 2012 Capacity Year - 495 megawatts
· 2013 Capacity Year - 775 megawatts
· 2014 Capacity Year - 732 megawatts
