That is because the Minister for
Commerce is doing a great job in leading a whole range of things right across
the building sector.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Order!
Mr R.H. COOK : She has led the
debate on rental tenancy reform and remedies for the construction market—which
is struggling with cash flows at the moment—with our simple
interest-free loan project to make sure that we get these homes built. We are
continuing to see an unprecedented level of collaboration and cooperation
within the housing construction industry at the moment of builders working with
the government to overcome the current challenges so that we can continue to
see more development in our construction market.
As I reported in my Premier's
Statement earlier in the week, we are now seeing some great building
initiatives. We are seeing building loans starting
to improve and supply chain costs starting to stabilise. From that point of
view , we are very confident about the years ahead for our home
construction market.
