(a-b) The Department of Justice, Corrective Services (Department) Transition Managers work with non-government organisations (NGOs) contracted by the Department to provide state-wide reintegration services to prisoners according to their needs. Service providers engage with prisoners six months prior to release and provide support up to twelve months post release for adult offenders reintegrating to the community from prison.
These services include transitional and sustainable housing services including linkages and referrals to relevant accommodation services, temporary transitional accommodation options, pre-release tenancy skills and post-release tenancy support. Corrective Services’ Adult Community Corrections branch assists those offenders under supervision in the community to engage with emergency accommodation services where required.
