(1) – (4) The Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services is, in all of its activities, concerned at services for Aboriginal prisoners and endeavours through its recommendations to advance their welfare. Pursuant to this, the Office employs a Community Liaison Officer who is Aboriginal and who carries special responsibility for ensuring that the Office is fully conversant with relevant issues. The funding for that position comes from the Department of Indigenous affairs, from which that Officer is seconded. The Office is not otherwise involved in direct service provision.
