VOLUNTEER RESOURCE CENTRES
1500. Hon COLIN HOLT to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Volunteering:
I
refer to the answer to my question without notice 1272, asked on 29 October, regarding
volunteer resource centres.
(1) Please list
the 11 volunteering organisations that participated in the in-depth interviews
undertaken by the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre.
(2) During the
development of the funding model, will the Department of Communities consult
with all the volunteer resource centres?
(3) If yes to
(2), when will this consultation take place?
(4) With the
expansion of services to regional areas not currently serviced by volunteer
resource centres, how will the department determine the location of any new
services, and who will be consulted?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The 11
volunteering organisations are listed below, taken from page 5 of the
Bankwest Curtin Economic Centre's
report: Meals on Wheels WA; Country Women's Association; agricultural
show; St John Ambulance; emergency services (local fire brigade and
State Emergency Services); Community Resource Centre; Country Music Festival;
Parents and Friends Association; Blackwood Youth Brigade; the hockey club.
(2) Yes.
(3) The current
volunteer development service agreements cease on 30 June 2021. The procurement
process, which includes consultation, is likely to commence in 2020.
(4) The location
of new services will be determined through a range of methods, including
service mapping, needs analysis and consultation with a range of stakeholders
including volunteer resource centres, organisations that involve volunteers,
and local governments.
