In answer to Question on Notice No. 2681(4), the Minister said he would ensure that the State Government will continue the subsidy for current eligible applicants on spectacles. However, the Government’s Seniors Card website advises that a subsidy of up to $50 on a pair of spectacles every two years is available by completing a claim form available from optometrists, optical dispensers and the Department of Health Western Australia. It also advises that this scheme is currently under review and eligibility criteria may change. Does the Minister stand by what he said in the House on 18 May 2010, or is the spectacle subsidy safe?
