1043. Hon DARREN WEST to the
minister representing the Minister for Environment:
I refer to the final version of the Forest Management Plan

the plan incorporates ''the latest climate projections''.

percentage covered by the previous FMP?
(3) What area and
percentage of jarrah forests receiving and projected to receive less than 600 millimetres
of rain per annum by 2030 will be subject to logging?
(4) What area and

millimetres of rain per annum by 2030 will be subject to logging?

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
(1) The Forest
Management Plan 2014–2023 covers an area of around 2.5 million hectares
of lands vested or proposed to be vested in the Conservation Commission of
Western Australia. Approximately 62 per cent of this area is in protected
areas; the remaining 38 per cent is available for timber harvesting.
(2) The Forest
Management Plan 2004–2013 covers a similar area of around 2.5 million
hectares, and the percentage available for the harvesting is the same as that
of the previous FMP.
(3)–(4) It
is not possible to provide the area that will be subject to timber harvesting
in the rainfall zones, as detailed timber harvest plans are yet to be prepared.
