I refer to the review of the Local Government Act 1995 and ask: (a) will amendments to the Act be introduced, following the conclusion of Phase 1, if so, when do you intend to introduce this legislation; (b) will Phase 1 amendments be brought in as a separate Bill, prior to any Phase 2 amendments; (c) when will Phase 2 consultation on the Act begin; and (d) why was the topic - reducing red tape, included in Phase 1 consultation documents, when it is listed as an issue for Phase 2: (i) will red tape reduction be considered as part of Phase 1 and be included in any relevant amendment Bill; (ii) will any feedback received on red tape reduction be held over and considered under Phase 2; and (iii) which specific red tape reduction topics will be considered under each of Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Act consultation?

(a-d) As the member is aware the McGowan Government is undertaking a review of the Local Government Act 1995. This review is being undertaken in two phases with the Government consulting on a range of issues.
Phase one consultation has been undertaken and the feedback is currently being considered. Phase two will commence when consultation documents have been finalised. All submissions and feedback provided will be considered as part of the review. Reducing red tape is a topic for both phases.
Any amendments to the Act as a result of the review will be introduced into Parliament when they are finalised and approved.
