I refer the Minister to heavy haulage inspections being carried out on the southwest highway and ask -
(1) The transport companies and private trucking operators that utilise the southwest highway have highlighted the overbearing attention they receive from the Heavy Haulage department of Main Roads WA. Some companies report instances where they are being intercepted 2 to 3 times daily and issued an intercept report on each occasion. Why is this occurring?
(2) Does the Minister agree that this is an excessive amount of inspections?
(3) The transportation companies have expressed their wish to comply with regular inspections, but the nuisance of repeated inspections are having an adverse affect on the drivers of transport companies. Will the Minister review the way and frequency that interceptions and inspections are conducted?
(4) If not why not?

(1)-(4) I refer the Member to question without notice No. 652 wherein the need for and result of this inspection regime is explained. I am astounded that the member appears not to support efforts to make the South West Highway safer.
