I refer to the Firearms Amendment Act 2024 and the reported inability of some shires to obtain property registration or issue letters to enable pest control on shire-managed lands, and I ask : (a) what legislative or regulatory changes, if any, are being considered to allow shires to authorise contractors or employees to undertake shooting activities for biosecurity purposes; (b) does the Government accept that the current framework may impede essential biosecurity operations; and (c) will the Minister advocate within Cabinet for urgent amendments to resolve these matters?
