The minister indicated some six weeks ago that he expected to receive by the current date expedited indicative figures of the long-term sustainable yield in both the karri and jarrah logging systems. (1) Has the minister received these indicative figures and is he able to table them in the House? (2) If not, when does he expect to receive them and will he be able to table them at that stage? Hon KIM CHANCE

(1)-(2) The answers in order are yes, no and within about three weeks.  The reason for that breakdown is that the Government does have indicative figures, which it is considering.  Those indicative figures cross quite wide parameters and, at this stage, it would probably not be a great deal of use to provide those figures to industry for it to make future decisions.  The reason for some delay is that the Government believes it is probably less than useful to release indicative figures without being able to provide full details of associated issues, in particular those concerning exit provisions and worker assistance payments.  The Government desires to release it as a whole package and is still working towards a date around the middle of this month.
