I refer to the 500 additional police
officers promised by the government during the 2008 election campaign and the
550 promised during the 2013 election campaign.
(1) How many additional
police officers have subsequently been recruited, trained and become
operational?
(2) What is the net gain in sworn officers across the state?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of this question.
(1) Of the 350
police officers and 150 police auxiliary officers promised during the last term
of government, all of the police auxiliary officers have been recruited and the
final 100 police officers are being recruited this financial year as scheduled.
The 2013 election commitment was 400 police officers and 150 police auxiliary
officers and this commitment has been scheduled for recruitment by 30 June
2017.
(2) The total
number of police officers, auxiliary police officers and Aboriginal police
liaison officers increased by 568 between 1 September 2008 and 28 February
2014.
