(a) what recorded music or radio station is broadcast on office on-hold telephony systems;
(b) what fees are paid to the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA), artists directly or any copyright bodies; and
(c) who is the responsible officer for deciding selection of on-hold material?

Ministerial Office
(a) - (c) Please refer to Legislative Assembly Question on Notice 1415.
Public Transport Authority
(a) The PTA does not play radio station broadcasts on its office on-hold telephony systems. The only recorded music is background music heard behind the speaker's voice or between information messages.
(b) The PTA does not pay any fees to APRA, artists or copyright bodies.
(c) The selection of on-hold material is determined by the various PTA business units based on the information these units need to present to the public in relation to PTA services, for example train and bus services. Each unit arranges their own recordings via a designated officer.
Main Roads
(a) Only two Main Roads offices use broadcast radio or recorded music for their music on hold. Albany office uses 6AL (ABC) AM radio 630 Khz and Derby office uses WAFM Radio 102.7 Mhz.
(b) Main Roads has two current APRA site licence fees of $208 each.
(c) The responsibility for selection of the music on hold for each office is the responsibility of a Business Services Manager / Officer or Customer Services Manager / Officer.
Department of Transport
(a) None.
(b) Not applicable.
(c) The Department's communications manager is responsible for the scripting of on hold messages, including specific information for some business units.
Disability Services Commission
(a) West Perth, Myaree and Joondalup offices have MP3 playing devices connected to their phone systems for on-hold calls. The music for these MP3s were recorded from various CDs.
(b) $2647.36 was paid to Australasian Performing Right Association for music on hold on 15 January 2009. This covers the Commission for the period 01 February 2009 to 31 January 2010.
