(1) The Pilbara Health Network provides visiting podiatry services to Tom Price and Paraburdoo. Podiatry services at Newman were previously provided by the Pilbara Health Network, formerly the Pilbara Division of General Practice. The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) - Pilbara has a regional full time podiatrist position based with WACHS - Pilbara Population Health in Port Hedland and that position is currently vacant.
(a) The podiatry service provided to Newman by the Pilbara Health Network concluded in October 2010 and has not since resumed. The podiatry services at Tom Price and Paraburdoo are provided every six weeks with dates scheduled for, 15
-18 February 2011, 5
-8 April 2011 and 24 -27 May 2011.
(b) Despite ongoing recruitment advertising campaigns to employ a residentially-based Regional Podiatrist, the position has remained vacant, filled in part only by visiting contracted podiatry services. WACHS is continuing to try to recruit to this position.
