I refer to the Labor government's
commitment of $16 million to establish a sound wall on the eastern side of the
Mitchell Freeway.
(1) What is the length and location
of this sound wall?
(2) Will any
sound wall be created on the western side of the Mitchell Freeway in the same
or similar location; and, if not, why not?

honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) Approximately
five kilometres of noise walls will be established on the eastern side of
Mitchell Freeway in sections between Ocean Reef
Road and Warwick Road, subject to further noise investigation and design.
(2) The smart
freeway–Mitchell Freeway southbound project is from Hester Avenue to
Warwick Road on the eastern side of the freeway. In line with state planning
policy and following noise monitoring and assessment, Main Roads WA is required
to build a wall on the eastern side of the Mitchell Freeway.
