(1) Seven, with a further three to be appointed in April 2009. As the term 'audit officers' can be applied to a range of financial and operational activities in the department, it is assumed that the question refers to the number of compliance officers monitoring compliance of proposals implemented under part IV of the
Environmental Protection Act 1986
and subject to Ministerial Statements.
(2) 790 projects have been approved to this date. The DEC is in the process of reviewing their auditing process to ensure resources are used effectively and in a manner that provides the greatest environmental outcome.
