POLICE — ADDITIONAL
OFFICERS
1016. Mr P.A. KATSAMBANIS to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. If, as the Premier claims,
the government has added more police officers in Western Australia, why does
the police annual report reveal that there are fewer police officers in 2019
than there were in 2018, and fewer police officers in 2019 than there were in
2017? Is the police annual report wrong or is the Premier just making it up as
he goes along?

One thing I know about the member for Hillarys is: do not
trust anything he says because it is invariably inaccurate.
Mr D.A. Templeman : Especially late at night!
Mr M. McGOWAN : Exactly.
This government came to office with a commitment to the meth
border force. That is one thing we are delivering on. We also have allowed
police officers who wanted to leave the force, who may have had enough and
might have had reasons for doing so, access to the voluntary targeted
separation scheme. A lot of police officers wanted access to that. Obviously,
we are recruiting a great many police officers in our state to ensure that we
deliver on the commitments we took to the election.
