Twenty-one additional driving assessors have been recruited between February 2006 and February 2007. In addition, the Department for Planning and Infrastructure is currently in the process of recruiting a further twelve driving assessors. (a) - (b) The additional twelve driving assessors currently being recruited should be operational by the end of May 2007. It is anticipated that these additional assessors will allow further improvement in average waiting times in line with the Department's desired standard of 3 weeks or less.

The waiting times for driving assessment bookings across the metropolitan area vary significantly on a daily basis and on 4 April 2007, for example, the average waiting time system wide was 2.9 weeks.
