APACHE ENERGY GAS PLANT EXPLOSION — WOODSIDE PETROLEUM gas production
I refer to the current restrictions on the supply of gas to the domestic market caused by the explosion and fire at the Apache gas facility. (1) Has the government approached Woodside Petroleum Ltd to ascertain whether that company has the capacity to produce additional gas to supply WA industry and the household market? (2) If so, what was the response from Woodside petroleum; and, if not, why not? Hon KIM CHANCE

The Woodside-operated North West Shelf gas plant has increased the output of its domestic gas as much as is prudently possible within the constraints of the plant while ensuring the ongoing safety, integrity and reliability of the gas supply.
