FORRESTFIELD–AIRPORT
LINK — WORKPLACE SAFETY
54. Dr M.D. NAHAN to the Minister for Transport:
I have a supplementary question. The
minister just said that she announced her response to safety issues in the
past, including in November last year. Can the minister explain why WorkSafe
visits and additional safety officers did not pick up the latest round of
serious safety breaches?

AnswerView source ↗

I am not sure what the member is
referring to, but in relation to this project—the contract that the
previous government signed but does not want to take any responsibility for—we
are making sure that we get the project delivered and that safety is our number
one priority. All I can say is that we are making sure we continually focus on
safety and the delivery of a very complex project. We continue to make sure
that we impress upon the company, through the agency and directly, that safety
is our number one priority.
The SPEAKER : That is the end
of question time.
