On a year by year basis for the last three years -
(1) Can the Minister provide an estimate of the average daily number of recreational powerboats using the Swan-Avon, Canning river system?
(2) How many -
(a) warnings have been issued to recreational boat operators in the Swan River System;
(b) infringement notices have been issued to recreational boat operators in the Swan River System;
(c) successful prosecutions have been made against recreational boat operators over the last three years;
(d) of the prosecutions that have failed, have had only one officers of the DPI, Fisheries Department or the Swan River Trust, present at the time of issuing the infringement?
(3) Can the Minister provide an estimate of the number of recreational powerboat users on the Swan for the next two years?
(4) Given that the DPI has conducted an education campaign over the last year, and now intends to move towards enforcement, is the Minister satisfied that the current staffing levels effectively providing three two-person enforcement teams are sufficient for expected number of river users over the next two years?
(5) What equipment and how much of it is available to the officers of the DPI (boats, telephones, radios, staff, radar speed monitoring equipment) at any one time on a typical summer Saturday afternoon, for law enforcement purposes?
(6) What is the estimate of the number of river users on the 2004 Australia Day weekend?
