252. Hon DARREN WEST to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the
crumbling wheatbelt roads due to the closure of tier 3 rail lines.
(1) Has the
Minister for Transport or his office received a pavement condition report on
the Quairading–Cunderdin Road?
(2) Can the
minister confirm that damaged sections of this road were upgraded as part of
the roads package implemented to replace tier 3 rail lines?
(3) Will the
government fund the $615 840 in urgent repair works required for this road;
and, if not, why not?
(4) Does the
minister accept that strip widening was a quick fix that has not worked?
(5) What
action is the minister taking to ensure roads upgraded to replace tier 3 rail
lines are capable of managing the freight task?

the state government will fund $207 130 of final seal to complete the works and
the Shire of Cunderdin is responsible for undertaking the pavement repairs.
