Police—Regional enforcement unit
284. Hon Julie Freeman to the minister representing the Minister for Police:
I refer to question
without notice 956 asked by Hon Martin Aldridge on 21 August 2024 regarding the
Regional Enforcement Unit and the response from the minister stating that:
Due to operational sensitivities,
staffing and resourcing information below the district or divisional level is
not released.
(1) Why was the Western Australia Police Force
(WAPF) willing to provide comparable information in response to similar
questions from the same member in 2018 and 2019?
(2) What has changed since 2019 that now prevents
WAPF from releasing staffing and resourcing information below the district or
divisional level?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. The following answer was
provided to me by the Minister for Police.
(1) The Western Australia Police Force advises
that an oversight occurred with the previous release of information.
(2) WAPF maintains the policy position that
operational sensitivities prevent the release of staffing and resourcing
information below the WA police district and divisional level.
