TAXI USERS'
SUBSIDY SCHEME — MY WAY TRIAL SITE PARTICIPANTS
767. Hon ALANNA CLOHESY to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the 508 people affected
by the flawed decision to discontinue the taxi users' subsidy scheme
and note that some drivers are still refusing to accept TUSS vouchers from
passengers.
(1) Have all
participants who had initially been advised that they were no longer eligible
now been advised that they are eligible?
(2) If yes to (1), when and how?
(3) What
communication has taken place with drivers to advise them that the scheme is
still continuing?
(4) How long does
the minister anticipate that TUSS vouchers will be available to National
Disability Insurance Scheme and NDIS My Way participants?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) Once
an agreement between the agencies has been made, the Department of Transport,
the Disability Services Commission and the National Disability Insurance Agency
will inform the affected TUSS members.
(3) No
communication has taken place with drivers as the scheme has not been
discontinued. It is an offence under regulation 8(2) of the Taxi Regulations
1995 to refuse a TUSS voucher.
(4) There are
ongoing discussions between the three agencies to ensure that services can
continue. The Department of Transport is seeking to continue TUSS funding and
services while participants explore the NDIS supports and services available to
them.
